PIPC to review sanctions over Coupang personal data leak on June 10

South Korea's Personal Information Protection Commission will place a sanctions proposal related to Coupang on the agenda for its full meeting on June 10. The size of any administrative fine over the large-scale personal data leak that occurred in November last year is expected to be decided then. If the agenda is approved, the commission plans to hold a separate briefing on the morning of June 11.

AhnLab cooperates with Korean National Police Agency to step up malicious app analysis against phishing crime

AhnLab said on Monday it signed a memorandum of understanding with the Korean National Police Agency to cooperate on responding to phishing crime. The two sides agreed to link information and analysis capabilities as malicious apps are increasingly used in voice phishing and other cyber crimes. AhnLab will analyze malicious app data collected during investigations, identify key threat information including C2 servers and share it with police, which will use it to track attacker activity and prevent spread.
